Pallibase is a palliative care knowledge base written for two audiences: people living with serious illness (and their families), and the clinicians who care for them.
All content is authored from the published palliative care literature — landmark randomised trials, clinical practice guidelines (ASCO, ESMO, WHO, NICE, Australian national standards), systematic reviews, and peer-reviewed clinical references such as the PCNOW Fast Facts series. Citations are shown with every clinical claim in the clinician stream, and each topic page lists its sources and a last-reviewed date.
Patient guides are written in plain language at roughly a grade-8 reading level, and every guide is checked for medical accuracy against the sources above before publication.
Clinician pages carry region-specific practice notes for Australia, the UK, Europe and the USA (PBS/NHS/insurance considerations, drug availability, legal frameworks). The site detects your likely region from your timezone — you can override it on any page. Where guidance differs between regions, both are shown rather than silently picking one.
How pages are produced: content is drafted from cited sources, structured by a clinician reviewer, and checked against primary literature before publication. Each page carries a "last reviewed" date; content is re-reviewed when material evidence changes.
Pallibase is a companion project to panclear.com, built by Prof. Anubhav Mittal, HPB & robotic surgeon in St Leonards, NSW, Australia — to bring the same evidence-first approach to palliative medicine. Surgical oncology practice sits on the continuum from active treatment into palliative care; this site reflects that continuum.
An advisory group of palliative care physicians and nurses is being invited to contribute peer review — pages reviewed by the group will carry individual reviewer acknowledgment.
Every topic page shows its last-reviewed date. When practice-changing evidence emerges, pages are updated and re-dated rather than silently edited. The evidence-updates stream on the clinician hub auto-refreshes daily from PubMed (randomised trials, guidelines and systematic reviews in palliative care).
